The Escape- The Grand Social RAFW Party

The Grand Social is a known site for playing host to some 33 amazing designers from across Australia, it has also proved it can stretch its tech legs and play host to the hottest party of fashion week at The Grand Social presents The Escape.
At the jungle themed venue guests had the chance to admire renowned photography duo Lyn and Tony's look book shots for The Grand Socials A/W campaign whilst listening to to the cool beats of internationally acclaimed DJ Natasha Slater, founder of the Milan fashion week party Punks Wear Prada.
Overall it was a rockin night filled with some of Australia's best fashion and design talent.

Below are a couple of photos we took of the night, unfortunately we only got a few due to it being so crowded and with low lighting.

Personal Stylings

1. Name, age, occupation.

Nikki Sulentic, 22 yrs old,Web Designer

2. Describe your personal style.

I'd have to say my style is quirky. I'll mix and match my grandma-esque vintage dress with that new beret and delicious pair of shoes I just bought. When I choose my outfit each day I sort of like to think I'm playing dress-up's as I did when I was a small tyke. I think it's fun to add quirkiness and a little bit of craziness to an outfit. It brightens up my day.

3. What is your favorite item of clothing?

My bright red Mala Brajkovic skirt. I can chuck it on with almost anything. It's a great staple.

4. Who is your favorite designer?

Why Mala Brajkovic of course!

"Come Fly With Me" - Sara Phillips A/W 09 Launch

Set against the interesting backdrop of the Boutwell Draper Gallery here in Sydney was the launch of Sara Phillips A/W collection titled Come Fly With me, a beautiful follow up collection to her In Bloom S/S collection which was featured here on A New Muse a few months back.

Not unlike her previous collection, Phillips has executed her feminine with an edge aesthetic beautifully but has certainly evolved to a higher level. Each piece is very wearable whilst remaining notably unique.

Come Fly with Me is inspired by all things in flight. From birds of a feather to planes in motion, Phillips’ collection captures the essence of flying through garments that are willowy, earthy and natural. As Phillips states, “All the garments are light and floaty, representing flying and movement”.

The range features a rich colour palette of plum, grey and khaki, giving it a warm and luxurious feel and showcases prints that are original artworks, copyrighted to Sara Phillips.

What I love about this collection is the creative thought that has brought each garment to life and the quirky but sophisticated way in which it was styled.

Sara Phillips is such a wonderful fresh designer, definitely one to watch.

Come Fly With Me will be available from February 09.
